The decline and decay that have occurred in Valentines Park during the last 20 years or so will take at least £2milliion to reverse. The council has submitted a bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund to cover the cost of restoring the Park, especially the Grade II listed structures and the associated 18th and 19th century landscapes and gardens. A decision on the bid is expected in March 2004. As soon as the bid is published, we will add details to our website. If you would like to know when this happens, please join our e-mail subscription service. Even if the bid is successful the restoration work is expected to take 2 - 3 years to complete. Because of this we carry out a programme of practical work throughout the Park - if you would like to help with this please contact us or turn up at one of the events listed in the diary. |
